Trade Trainer

Roles and Responsibilities of Trainer:
Trainer is responsible for effectively delivering the curriculum for various construction trades, such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and welding.
A crucial part of the role is to provide practical, hands-on training, guiding students through the proper use of tools, equipment, and materials.
Trainer must demonstrate techniques, procedures, and safety protocols clearly and accurately.
They are responsible for assessing and nurturing the development of students' technical skills, ensuring they meet the required industry standards.
Trainer act as mentors, providing guidance, encouragement, and feedback to students.
They must regularly assess student progress through tests, practical exercises, and projects.
Attendance and Discipline: Instructors are responsible for maintaining class discipline and tracking student attendance.
They need to identify students who are struggling and provide them with additional support and guidance.
A primary responsibility is to instill a strong safety culture. Instructors must teach and enforce all safety rules and regulations related to the use of tools, equipment, and the workshop environment.
They must conduct regular risk assessments of the training area and activities to prevent

accidents.

Trainer is often responsible for the basic maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and are used correctly.
They may also be involved in managing the inventory of materials and consumables for their trade.
Tainer may contribute to the development or revision of training modules and curricula to ensure they are up to date with current industry practices and technologies.
They are expected to stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and regulations in the

construction industry.

Building and maintaining relationships with local construction companies and industry professionals can help in placing students for apprenticeships or jobs.
Trainer must maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessments.
They are encouraged to participate in professional development courses to enhance their own skills and knowledge.
Preparing and submitting reports on student performance, workshop inventory, and training activities to the institute's management.
Trainer often plays a key role in preparing students for the workforce. This includes conducting mock interviews, teaching resume-writing skills, and providing advice on job search strategies.

Experience

3 to 10 years of experience in related Trade.

Trade Demonstrator

Roles and Responsibilities of Demonstrator:
The demonstrator’s main role is to show students how to perform specific tasks, such as Welding, Pipe fittings, laying bricks, installing plumbing pipes, or wiring electrical circuits. This involves demonstrating the correct procedures, techniques, and sequences.
They must expertly showcase the proper and safe use of various hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment relevant to trade. They highlight the correct handling, maintenance, and safety precautions for each tool.
Demonstrators show how to correctly prepare and apply construction materials, like mortar, plaster, paint, or adhesives, ensuring students understand consistency, application methods, and finishing techniques.
After a demonstration, the demonstrator observes students as they replicate the task, providing immediate feedback, correcting mistakes, and offering one-on-one guidance.
Troubleshooting: They help students troubleshoot common problems encountered during practical exercises, like an uneven brick course or a faulty electrical connection.
They answer student questions and reinforce the theoretical concepts taught by the instructor with practical examples.
Safety Adherence: Demonstrators are crucial for enforcing safety protocols in the workshop. They ensure students wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines.
They identify and address potential hazards in the training area and educate students on how to work in a safe environment.
They are often responsible for the basic cleaning, maintenance, and organization of tools and equipment in the demonstration area.
Demonstrators must prepare the materials, tools, and equipment needed for each demonstration. This includes everything from ensuring the correct ratio of cement mix to having all necessary tools readily available
A key part of their role is to show students how to use materials and tools efficiently to minimize waste, a critical skill in the construction industry.
Before any demonstration, they need to ensure the immediate work area is safe and organized, free of any potential trip hazards or clutter.
They may be required to document their demonstrations through checklists, or even video recordings, for students to review later.
Demonstrators work closely with instructors, offering feedback on common mistakes students are making and suggesting adjustments to the curriculum. This helps the institute improve its training programs.
A demonstrator may assist instructors in the practical assessment of students, verifying that they have correctly executed a particular task according to the demonstrated standards.
