Work Environment: Semiconductor Fab / Cleanroom

Education: Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Instrumentation or related engineering discipline

Role OverviewThe Semiconductor Equipment Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operation of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a cleanroom fab environment. The role focuses on ensuring equipment uptime, executing preventive maintenance, and supporting production operations in coordination with equipmentengineers and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Support

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance on semiconductor manufacturing tools.
  • Support day-to-day tool operation to ensure high equipment uptime.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and escalating complex problems to engineering teams.
  • Replace and calibrate equipment components as required.

Tool Operation & Monitoring

  • Monitor equipment performance and respond to alarms or operational deviations.
  • Ensure tools are operating within defined process parameters.
  • Record equipment status and maintenance activity in maintenance logs.

Installation & Qualification Support

  • Support installation, hook-up, and commissioning of semiconductor tools.
  • Assist equipment engineers in tool qualification activities (IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Work with vendors during equipment installation or servicing.

Cleanroom & Safety Compliance

  • Follow cleanroom protocols and equipment handling procedures.
  • Adhere to EHS guidelines related to hazardous gases, chemicals, and electrical systems.
  • Participate in safety audits and operational compliance activities.

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Exposure to systems such as:
    • Vacuum systems
    • Gas delivery systems
    • Wafer handling robotics
    • RF systems
    • PLC-based equipment controls
  • Ability to read basic electrical or mechanical diagrams.
