Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Remote Cobol Developer who has experience more on the analytical and design side of Cobol vs. support side. Responsibilities include: Implement new features while maintaining overall quality of software. Contribute to a culture of learning by documenting and sharing technical knowledge as a developer on an agile squad. Participate in developer communities of practice by following best practices, participating in code reviews, and sharing knowledge. Remain current on relevant technology trends. Participate in researching and resolving customer issues. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of object-oriented design and development experience with one or more of the following programing languages: Cobol, SAS, other open-system languages. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Experience with any of the following, a plus: Snowflake environment tools like Elevate, Switchboard, DBT; ETL; file movement using sFTP. Understanding of basic networking and firewall concepts. Experience with version control solutions, preferably Git/GitHub. Understanding of the full software development lifecycle. Familiarity with security best practices for software development. Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.

10+ years Cobol experience - specifically within analytical and design vs support - new code dev and enhancements

Manual testing

Merger/acquisition experience - taking 2 systems and creating a plan to integrate them both

Heavy data analysis - Excel Vlookups - data mapping

Working heavily with SMEs, Operations, IT - collaboration

Independent - can make decisions and complete tasks without approval from Senior resources
