Job Title: Pilot Plant R&D Officer

Location: Unilever R&D Bangalore

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pilot Plant R&D Officer to support the execution of pilot-scale operations for Personal Care product development. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in Automation, R&D/ factory operations, machine handling and preventive maintenance, inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Manage raw material (RM) ordering, inventory control, and logistics for pilot trials
Support re-processing of semi-finished and finished goods
Handle labelling, coding, packing, and dispatch of samples
Execute pilot plant batches and support end-to-end lab and plant processes
Operate and maintain personal care product machinery (e.g., mixers, plodders, conveyors)
Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment
Perform root cause analysis (e.g., 5W1H, Why-Why analysis) for equipment failures
Ensure adherence to GMP, ISO, FWS, and safety protocols
Maintain machine history cards and coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules
Participate in 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives
Prepare and maintain SOPs, MIS reports, and trial documentation
Support internal audits, gap analysis, and compliance activities
Train team members on safety, operations, and maintenance procedures

Preferred Qualifications

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in science or Technical Diploma/ (Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation)

Experience:

Minimum 1 to 2 years in R&D Pilot Plants/factory operations
Hands-on experience Inventory management, Operations of Plodders, Mixers, Conveyor, Stamping, Tripple Roll Miller etc

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of LOTO, work permit systems, and safety standards
Familiarity with SAP, MS Office, and operational systems
Trained in fire safety and first aid

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
