Hiring: QMS Consultant

Industry: Handicraft & Home Decor Export Manufacturing

Location: Primarily remote, with periodic factory visits to Western U.P. as needed

Engagement Type: Consultant / Project-based

A growing handicraft & home decor exporter from U.P. is looking for an experienced QMS Consultant to help strengthen and redesign its Quality function.

This is not a routine ISO documentation exercise.

We are looking for someone who can help us move from a Quality Control mindset (“inspection at the end”) to a more structured Quality Assurance / Quality Management System approach built around prevention, process discipline, clear acceptance criteria, CAPA rigor, and better customer-quality outcomes.

What we need help with

We are looking for a consultant who can help us:

• Review the current Quality setup and identify major gaps
• Help redesign the function from QC-heavy to QA/QMS-led
• Build a practical gate-based quality system across the order-to-dispatch lifecycle
• Define core QMS elements such as:

→ defect definitions

→ acceptance criteria

→ control plans

→ CAPA workflow

→ audit calendar

→ quality dashboards / KPI rhythm

→ deviation / waiver process

→ Improve process discipline across:

→ supplier quality

→ manufacturing quality

→ dispatch quality

→ customer claims / complaint closure

• Help set up the right Quality Management Systems
• Support QMS documentation, governance cadence, and implementation discipline
• Guide the team on training, adoption, and operating rhythm
• Advise on the right use of SAP QM / SAP Quality Module (highly desirable)

Ideal profile

Strong fit if you have experience in:

• QMS setup / redesign
• Quality Assurance systems in manufacturing
• Moving businesses from QC to QA
• CAPA, control plans, audits, defect taxonomy, and quality governance
• Export manufacturing / vendor quality / customer compliance environments
• SAP QM / SAP Quality Module implementation or practical usage

This role will suit someone who:

• Understands both systems and shopfloor realities
• Can work with promoter-led / SME / mid-sized Indian businesses
• Can build practical systems, not just documents
• Knows how to improve quality without turning the function into paperwork
• Can work remotely but is willing to visit the factory when needed

Not the right fit if:

• You only do ISO certification paperwork
• You only do end-stage inspection improvement
• You are not comfortable with implementation follow-through
• You have no exposure to manufacturing / export / vendor-driven quality environments

• a clearer Quality operating model
• improved QA/QMS structure
• stronger CAPA and audit discipline
• better defect / claims visibility
• better control on supplier, process, and dispatch quality
• a more usable system for internal teams to run
