Job Description

This is a part-time position working 6+ hours a week providing occupational therapy services for an alternative education placement program for middle and high school students with moderate to significant developmental disabilities/autism and behavior issues. In addition, the OT is responsible for providing ongoing feedback and support to the classroom staff and Education Services Director to promote students’ sensory regulation and improved motor function beyond structured therapy sessions.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide direct services, including assessment, intervention and evaluations to students with disabilities.
  • Design, create and implement interventions that meet the individual needs for the student.
  • Write effective IEP goals and objectives and have a system in place to monitor progress. Participate in EIP, ETR meetings as needed.
  • Use data to design, implement and revise IEP goals that relate and support extended content standards as well as the needs of the student. Provide written communication on progress of OT-related IEP goals to parents and staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with families/care providers, school staff and school districts to coordinate services.
  • Assist staff in implementing strategies/interventions to improve the effectiveness of service delivery within the Step Up environment
  • Serve as a consultant to staff as needed.


Utilize a variety of service delivery options, which may include direct individual instruction, small group instruction, or consultative services


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree and current licensure in Occupational Therapy
  • Multiple years experience working in a special education setting
  • Acquired and maintains licensures required by the state of Ohio and ODE licensures
  • Strong skills in addressing and teaching varying levels of occupational therapy needs
  • The ability to walk/move continuously for extended periods of time, indoors/outdoors as needed
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle and willingness to submit to a criminal background check ask


ABOUT THE STEP-UP ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM:

This unique program partners with multiple Greater Cincinnati public schools to provide an alternative education program for students with Autism who have been unable to succeed in a typical classroom setting. Stepping outside of their home district, students of Step Up continue their studies at our 23-acre Given Road Camp in Indian Hill.


Utilizing our non-traditional education setting, Step-Up students receive the tools they need to successfully navigate academic studies, learn self-regulation skills, develop vocational skills through authentic experiences to enable them to transition into adulthood and more fully participate int heir community. The Step-Up program operations 3-4 classrooms of up to seven students each, with most students utilizing 1:1 aides along with classroom teachers to engage in academic, communication and functional living skill instruction.
