Job Description: Category Lead – Services (EPC – Gas to Power Projects)

Position Title: Category Lead – Services

Location: Oman (Project Site/HO)

Reports To: Section Head(Services) – Supply Chain Management

Project: EPC – Gas to Power

Role Overview

The Section Head – Services will lead the services procurement function for EPC projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of construction, commissioning, and support services. The role demands strategic oversight, team leadership, and strong vendor management, with a focus on leveraging international sourcing, particularly from China.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the services procurement team, including Category Leads and Buyers.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key service categories: construction, logistics, manpower, commissioning, and technical services.
Drive China sourcing initiatives for construction-related services and materials to optimize cost and delivery.
Ensure alignment of procurement activities with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
Oversee contract negotiations, finalization, and administration for high-value service contracts.
Build and maintain strong relationships with global and regional service providers.
Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and HSE standards.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve escalated issues to ensure service quality and continuity.
Provide regular reporting and insights to senior management on procurement performance and risks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
15-20 years of experience in services procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within EPC or Oil & Gas/Power projects
Proven experience in international sourcing, especially from China
Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement analytics tools
