Job Description: HR Specialist – India
Role Overview
The Payroll Associate will support the day-to-day payroll operations for Alight India, assisting in the accurate and timely processing of salaries, bonuses, and incentives for employees. The role requires adherence to statutory guidelines, collaboration with relevant teams, and a focus on meticulous execution of payroll-related activities.

Job Description: HR Specialist – India
Role Overview
The Payroll Associate will support the day-to-day payroll operations for Alight India, assisting in the accurate and timely processing of salaries, bonuses, and incentives for employees. The role requires adherence to statutory guidelines, collaboration with relevant teams, and a focus on meticulous execution of payroll-related activities.
Payroll Operations – ResponsibilitiesPayroll Processing & Settlements
- Assist in end-to-end payroll processing for India, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the disbursement of employee salaries, bonuses, and incentives.
- Help with processing Full and Final Settlements, including leave encashments, bonuses, gratuity, and provident fund contributions.
- Liaise with the finance team to assist in the accurate and prompt settlement of payroll payments.
- Generate and review basic payroll reports for internal use and management review.
- Support the interpretation and application of statutory updates in collaboration with the payroll team and legal department to ensure compliance with Indian regulations.
- Help coordinate statutory registrations and submissions, including preparing documentation for RPFC and LWF offices, and supporting processes for contribution payments, claims, and audits.
- Support compliance with Indian labour laws, tax regulations, PF, ESI, PT, and other statutory mandates in payroll processes.
- Assist in payroll audits by gathering and organising necessary data and documentation.
- Facilitate communication with payroll vendors and track the timely execution of payroll-related tasks and payment cycles under the guidance of senior team members.
- Prepare and update basic vendor MIS reports for tracking service delivery and compliance, with oversight from managers.
- Participate in vendor meetings as directed, ensuring documentation of discussions and follow-up on agreed actions.
- Collaborate with HR and payroll service providers to help streamline and optimise payroll workflows.
- Address routine payroll-related queries and escalate complex issues to the appropriate team members.
- Serve as a point of contact for routine payroll matters, escalating more complex issues as needed.
- Assist in the administration of employee insurance policies, including hospitalisation, top-up policies, GTL, and GPA insurance.
- Maintain high standards for quality and accuracy in assigned processes, working with supervision where required.
- Assist in identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies by performing basic quality checks.
- Support process improvements by providing feedback and suggestions to enhance daily payroll operations.
- Document payroll requirements for new projects or process changes under the direction of senior team members.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders and cross-functional teams as required to support communication and project activities.

- 4 years of experience in HR or payroll operations, preferably with exposure to Indian statutory requirements
- Basic understanding of Indian payroll regulations and statutory compliances
- Working knowledge of Workday HR/Payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
