Exploration and Production (EP) roles in the oil and gas sector focus onlocating, extracting, and processing hydrocarbons safely and efficiently. Key roles include engineers (exploration, drilling, production) who design and analyze, and field personnel (pumpers, operators) who manage well flow, maintain equipment, and ensure regulatory compliance. Common requirements involve technical expertise, safety adherence (HSE), and troubleshooting skills.

Key Exploration Production Roles Responsibilities

Exploration Engineer: Conducts geological surveys, analyzes seismic data, and uses imaging technology to locate potential resource deposits.

Drilling Engineer: Designs and oversees drilling programs, selects equipment, and ensures wells are constructed to safety/environmental standards.

Production Engineer: Optimizes the performance of existing wells, manages reservoir management, and maximizes recovery rates.

Production Operator/Pumper: Operates and monitors surface equipment (pumps, compressors) and controls the flow of oil/gas from wells.

Drilling Production Superintendent: Oversees daily operations, manages budgets, enforces safety protocols, and ensures compliance with regulations.

Gauger/Treater: Measures, samples, and treats crude oil for quality, ensuring it is ready for transport to refineries.
