External Job Description

Reporting to: EH&S Manager

Reportees: Team Members

General Objective

Monitor effluent quality from all departments, ensure treated water meets statutory norms, conduct required analysis, maintain documentation, and ensure smooth functioning of ETP, RO, incinerator, scrap yard, and water treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Activities

  • Maintain attendance and records of ETP staff.
  • Report total industrial & domestic water treated daily.
  • Inspect pumps, motors, and equipment; report breakdowns.
  • Ensure timely pumping of industrial & domestic effluent to ETP.
  • Maintain 5S and good housekeeping at ETP, RO, scrap yard.
  • Check all ETP units and resolve issues.
  • Monitor incinerator functioning and assign batches.
  • Issue PPE and ensure availability of required equipment.
  • Analyse influent and effluent (pH, TSS, TDS, COD, etc.).
  • Send daily ETP performance reports to managers.
  • Update display boards and log sheets (ETP, incinerator, scrap register).
  • Supervise container crusher operations.
  • Issue manifests for daily scrap movement.
  • Check all collection pits & ensure no overflow.
  • Update QR PRD, QR EMS, treated water register & chemical consumption.
  • Ensure centrifuge runs smoothly; move sludge barrels safely.
  • Monitor hazardous scrap yard, waste barrel yard & cleaning operations.
  • Oversee DI/Soft water plant operations.

Daily Analysis Activities

  • Test pH, TSS, TDS, COD, BOD, Oil & Grease.
  • Measure MLSS & DO in aeration tank.
  • Conduct soft water & DI water tests.
  • Determine optimum chemical dosage (Jar Test).
  • Analyse cooling tower water, sludge, and other samples as required.

Weekly Activities

  • Update Spill Management Kit report.
  • Arrange department stationery.

Monthly Activities

  • Submit reports to Manager:
    • Water Balance
    • Performance parameters
    • ETP & Incinerator performance
    • Environmental Monitoring Data
  • Submit reports to PCB:
    • Hazardous waste manifests (before 15th)
    • Action Plan (before 15th)
    • Scrap disposal dates (before 30th)
  • Maintain Form III (QR EMS); update compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for sampling.
  • Process bills related to sampling.
  • Update EHS records and Environmental Performance board.
