Junior Analyst – Derivatives

Role Overview

The Transaction Services team is a multi-skilled operations team covering cash operations, asset servicing, trade operations, and derivatives.

This role is suited to an individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced setting. A strong willingness to learn, develop technical knowledge, and leverage technology is key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing & Controls

Process assigned transactions and events accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Follow up on outstanding items and escalate issues to senior team members when appropriate.
Ensure issues identified are disclosed promptly and accurately, in line with control requirements.
Adhere strictly to departmental procedures and risk controls.

Reconciliations & Query Resolution

Assist in resolving stock and cash reconciliation breaks.
Investigate assigned queries and escalate based on agreed criteria (e.g., age, value, client impact).
Support the management of client and stakeholder queries with clear and timely communication.

Workload & Team Support

Prioritise daily workload effectively in a changing operational environment.
Seek guidance on complex or unusual issues.
Support ad-hoc tasks and project work within agreed timelines.
Build strong working relationships with operational teams, Portfolio Implementers, Dealers, and external counterparties.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance service quality.
Actively develop knowledge across the Transaction Services lifecycle.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience ✅ Must Have

Previous experience using Aladdin
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Basic understanding of operational risk and escalation processes
Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn

⭐ Good to Have

Exposure to derivatives operations, including collateral management
Experience in trade operations across asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income including ABS/MBS, FX, Money Markets, Unit Trusts, Repo, Term Deposits)
Experience in cash operations, particularly payments
Knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards
Understanding of corporate actions processing (mandatory & voluntary events, income processing)
Awareness of operational risk across the transaction/asset lifecycle
