The Opportunity

We’re hiring an API & Backend Engineer to design and evolve the API layer powering an intelligent platform used in real-world, high-stakes environments.

This role is ideal for engineers who care deeply about:

Clean API architecture
Backward compatibility and contract integrity
Production reliability and performance
Using AI tools to accelerate development (with strong human oversight)

You won’t just build endpoints — you’ll own the long-term stability and behaviour of the API surface.

What You’ll Do Design & Build Product APIs

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
Define API contracts, versioning strategy, and backward compatibility
Ensure secure and predictable access to platform intelligence
Optimise query correctness and performance

Work in an AI-Enabled Engineering Environment

Use AI tools to generate API handlers, schemas, and test scaffolding
Expand contract and edge-case test coverage with AI assistance
Analyse production usage patterns to improve API design
Review and validate AI-generated outputs — accountability remains human

Ensure Production Readiness

Participate in CI pipelines for automated API testing and validation
Own test coverage and contract correctness
Follow structured deployment and rollback mechanisms
Contribute to safe, controlled releases in production

What You’ll Own

API stability and consumer trust
Contract integrity and predictable behaviour
Versioning strategy and long-term maintainability
Performance tuning and scalable query execution
Safe releases supported by strong automated testing

What We’re Looking For

Strong experience building backend systems and APIs (REST, GraphQL, or event-driven)
Solid understanding of API design principles and versioning best practices
Experience with scalable, cloud-native backend architectures
Familiarity with automated testing, contract testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Comfort working alongside AI-assisted development tools
Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate in production environments
