About The Role
The Key Account Executive plays a vital role in driving account growth and profitability by securing incremental and renewal contractual commitments from both Economic Buying Influences (EBIs) and Technical Buying Influences (TBIs) across all product categories. This strategic selling position involves engaging with prospects and existing clients remotely via phone, video, face-to-face meetings, and digital tools. The role requires developing comprehensive account growth strategies, collaborating with category experts, and adding value to the customer’s purchasing process. The successful candidate will lead a team of specialists, including category experts, site development teams, customer success managers, and sales engineers, to execute account plans and identify new opportunities for expansion and retention.

About The Role

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 4-6 years of successful sales experience
- 4-6 years of experience in Office Supplies, including facility and breakroom, technology products, business furniture, print, and promotional products
- 3+ years of proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic software tools
- 4-6 years of experience in consultative selling, solutions selling, insight selling, negotiation, and advanced client management skills
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Prior experience managing complex accounts and prospecting with Fortune 1000 companies (preferred)
- Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas and managing full-cycle deal shaping (preferred)
- Utilize prescribed selling tools to prioritize activities, document customer engagement, and drive sales efficiency (e.g., Salesforce, Prioritized Insights)
- Lead cross-functional account teams, including category experts and support staff, to execute growth strategies
- Collaborate with Revenue Management to make discretionary pricing decisions based on account knowledge and future spend potential
- Exhibit strong business acumen and apply sales methodologies to identify incremental opportunities aligned with customer initiatives such as sustainability, HR, and innovation
- Support product selection, standardization, and industry-specific buying processes to enhance customer satisfaction
- Engage with Customer Success Managers to ensure optimal customer experience and manage maintenance requests
- Grow the book of business profitably by targeting programmatic and transactional opportunities across all categories
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior executives within customer organizations
- Drive incremental sales and profitability through targeted growth strategies and account planning
- Develop tailored solutions based on customer data, industry trends, and Staples' value proposition
- Communicate effectively with prospects and customers, demonstrating high-level business acumen and professionalism
- Coordinate with internal teams such as Revenue Management, Category Specialists, and Support teams for seamless execution
- Oversee pricing negotiations and account assortment strategies to maximize profitability
- Design and implement customer growth plans, working closely with product and sales teams
- Provide feedback from customers to leadership to inform product development and service improvements
- Adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs to maintain a competitive edge
